Equatorial Coca-Cola Bottling Company invests 9M€ in a new brewery line to produce Strela in its Ceris Factory

The new line will have the capacity to produce 12.000 bottles per hour and will create 33 new employment opportunities, besides the already 270 established jobs.

This investment is a demonstration of ECCBC, Cavibel and Ceris’ commitment to Cape Verde during the last 25 years.

Equatorial Coca-Cola Bottling Company (ECCBC) has inaugurated a new brewery line installed in its Ceris Factory located in Praia, Cape Verde. With an investment of 9M€, this new line will produce exclusively Strela, the internationally recognized Cape Verdean beer, with a capacity of 12.000 bottles per hour.

Through this investment, the company continues ensuring that Strela maintains its world class quality standards and taste, and consolidates as one of best worldwide beers. It will also contribute to the local community by creating 33 new employment opportunities. This inauguration reaffirm ECCBC’s commitment to keep investing in the future of the country.

25 years of history in Cape Verde

ECCBC’s history in Cape Verde started in 1997 with a strong commitment to the Cape Verdean community. Since that moment, ECCBC has invested more than 40M€ in the business, and today represents 1,2% of Cape Verde’s GDP. At the moment, the company provides direct employment to more than 270 people and indirectly to more than 1.060.

Besides, ECCBC is also committed with the Cape Verdean community. Through different social initiatives along these past years, the company has positively impacted more than 50.000 citizens and has sponsored around 2.000 cultural events, among other initiatives.

Strela, the only Cape Verde’s local beer with an international recognized taste

The production of Strela started in 2006 in Praia and, by 2009, the brand was the second most consumed beer in Cape Verde, covering 35% of the market, and nowadays, it’s already the first beverage in the country, being the only locally produced beer.

In 2016 Strela beer received a Superior Taste Award from the International Taste & Quality Institute (iTQi) in Brussels and, nowadays, the brand has achieved up to 5 iTQi international recognitions. With ECCBC’s investment, the company has Strela’s taste with the best-in-class quality standards and will keep promoting its cultural and local identity around the world, to enhance its reputation and visibility, as well as promoting Cape Verdean cultural identity.
